FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about ArcaSign, payment plans, BCCR digital signature and data privacy.

Plans & billing
What is the difference between monthly and packs?

Monthly plans are recurring subscriptions with unlimited documents. Packs are one-time signature credits with no subscription — ideal if your volume varies or you prefer pay-per-use.

Do packs have an expiration date?

Yes. Pack credits are valid for 1 year from the purchase date.

Can I change plans?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Changes are applied on a prorated basis in your next billing cycle.

Do prices include taxes?

Prices shown do not include applicable taxes. For Costa Rica, VAT of 13% applies and will be added at checkout.

BCCR Digital Signature
What is the BCCR Digital Signature?

It is the digital signature issued by Costa Rica's Central Bank (BCCR). It has full legal validity in Costa Rica under Law 8454 on Certificates, Digital Signatures and Electronic Documents. It is the only signature with full legal validity in the country.

Do I need special hardware to sign?

Yes. You need a digital keychain (USB token or smart card) issued by a certification authority authorized by BCCR, plus the GAUDI Agent installed on your computer. The token must be physically connected at the time of signing.

Are signed documents legally valid?

Yes. Signatures processed through Claraxiom Sign have full legal validity in Costa Rica under Law 8454. Signed documents can be used with government agencies, banks, and for any process requiring BCCR digital signature.

Privacy & storage
Are my documents stored in the cloud?

No. Claraxiom Sign is self-hosted: your documents never leave your server. Storage is handled with MinIO on your own infrastructure. You maintain complete control over where your data lives.

How is my data protected?

Claraxiom Sign is designed with privacy-by-design principles. Documents are encrypted on your server. We have no access to your data. Additionally, we comply with GDPR, Law 8968 (Costa Rica data protection), and international privacy regulations.

Workflows
Can I have multiple signers on a document?

Yes. You can configure approval workflows with multiple signers, define the signing order and add automatic reminders. Each signer receives their own invitation with a secure link.

How do approval workflows work?

You can define who must sign, in what order, and what happens after each signature. For example, a document can require manager signature first, then legal, then filing. Each step generates an event in the audit trail.

What if someone doesn't sign in time?

You can configure automatic reminders to send after N days without signing. You can also see in real-time who has signed and who hasn't, and manually resend invitations.

Support & compatibility
What browsers are supported?

Claraxiom Sign works in modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. We recommend keeping your browser updated. The GAUDI Agent requires Windows 7+, macOS 10.12+ or Linux.

Can I use Claraxiom Sign on my smartphone?

You can view and review documents on smartphone. To sign with BCCR Digital Signature you need a USB token and a computer with the GAUDI Agent. However, you can start workflows and track progress from any device.
